Overview of the Research
This research project titled “Surveys of social enterprise activity in Bangladesh, Ghana, India and Pakistan” seeks to gain an understanding of existing social enterprises exist and their roles and achievements in the four countries-Bangladesh, Ghana, India and Pakistan and aims to compile a specific set of quantitative information on social enterprise activity in these four countries. Although Social enterprises address social and environmental problems through innovative solutions, there is little data about their activity in most countries. It is an exciting project, as there is currently a data gap on social enterprise activities in these countries and an established demand for this information The project is led by Overseas Development Institute (ODI) who are providing oversight, with support from Social Enterprise UK (SEUK). The project is commissioned by British Council and BetterStories Limited is leading the research/project in Bangladesh. There are two main components to the work: Brief Research Methodology There are three major steps to this research: Creation of Database; Survey of Social Enterprises and Reporting. The first two steps are crucial to this project and will be carried out in a robust manner. The database will include an extensive list of social enterprises that are currently working in Bangladesh. The survey process will filter out the entities that are truly eligible to be called a Social Enterprise. Social Enterprise Survey: What’s in it for YOU?
